These beautiful bunnies were created with chalk pastels, oil pastels, and watercolour paints. Each one unique and as lovely as the artists who drew them.

We read this powerful story together and it resulted in some deep discussions around excluding peers, loneliness, and being noticed. The littles were asked to think about what they could do if they noticed someone alone.
For Valentine’s Day we thought about what fills our hearts. The littles had SO much fun coding the Dash robots with Mrs. Myers during an ADST collaboration afternoon. Students had to pretend their robot was a groundhog, draw a map, and then code their robots to come out of their burrows! Perseverance is an important life skill. Students had to persevere to fix and change their codes over and over in order to complete this challenge.
Students hard at work, making a hypothesis and then observations of a chemical reaction, just like scientists! How do we know for sure that gas takes up space? Just ask your kiddos about this balloon experiment!
After visiting O.W.L., we decided we would like to help support the important work they do of rescuing and caring for injured raptors. In 2016, O.W.L. cared for 646 injured raptors! The kiddos eagerly took on this service project, offering to do chores at home or collecting bottles and cans to earn a dollar or two. Our goal is to raise $30 as a class so we can sponsor an owl in care. Serenity, the Snowy owl, was chosen as the owl we would sponsor. Students have worked in pairs to create posters to display around the school, to help educate others on what we can all do to help owls in BC. The story Owl Moon, by Jane Yolen, was the inspiration for our art project this month. Students started with white paint only, adding a bit of blue or purple slowly to create the values of their colour, from light to dark.
Learning about the differences between owls and other raptors, and how humans impact these beautiful creatures.
This week we were thinking a lot about why we have Remembrance Day and the importance of this special holiday. We made a class poppy wreath for the assembly, painted poppies, and wrote our wishes for the world. Children never cease to amaze me with their thoughtful ideas.
